The Cosmic Encounter conversion is an expansion of a previous conversion, made by PatMan13b. The purpose: to enable players to play old-style Cosmic Encounter, now very rare, using only the currently available Avalon Hill edition. You can download the conversion set here.
Features: 81 different alien powers (taken from the Eon, Mayfair, and Online editions), 19 extra Attack cards (complete with flavor text), 5 extra Negotiate cards (some with flavor text), 5 kickers, 18 extra artifacts (some with flavor text), and a flare template (flares not finished). The encounter cards (Attack, Negotiate, and Kicker), when combined with the Avalon Hill cards, mimic the classic Eon set, the artifacts mirror the Mayfair set, the alien powers are a combination, and the flares can be made to mirror either.
Instructions: print out all cards (except for flares - that section's not finished yet), separate them, and put them into card protectors. Take the 52-card encounter deck that came in the Avalon Hill edition (you don't need the Avalon Hill alien power cards) and place them into card protectors as well. Separate the alien powers and the rest of the cards into two separate decks, and you're done.
Why did I leave the set partially incomplete? Well, after it was announced that a new, complete Cosmic Encounter set is coming out in 2008, I figured that rather than just finish, I can wait one year ;) . Sorry guys. |
