Olympic Decathlon

Download Olympic Decathlon

I was inspired by the upcoming Olympics to create the Ogmo Olympics! The rules are fairly straighforward: complete each event, each second subtracts one point from your score while each teal gem adds 10 points. There is a three-second countdown before each event begins, giving you time to read the rules for each event in the conveniently placed help blocks.

Who can get the highest score? I just got 949, though I'm sure I can do better than that.

The full list of events:

- Sprint
- High Jump
- Hurdles
- Freestyle Swimming
- Skiing
- Shooting
- Diving
- Blockback Riding
- Pole Vault
- Long Jump

Please give me feedback, and be sure to post your score smile

+200 points worth of gems (pathetic, I know)

Total score: 1027 points

Double-jumping: Don't leave home without it.

Re: Olympic Decathlon

1032.

By the way, it is still possible to get stuck in infinite warp loops in that shooting level.  I don't get why you change it from spikes.  I guess you can just advise F2 if you prefer it this way, but I just feel wrong terminating Ogmo's life that way.  sad

Re: Olympic Decathlon

I just reuploaded with minor fixes:

- No more getting stuck in infinite loops in the shooting level.
- Added one-way walls in two parts of the shooting level (makes it easier for newbies but probably won't affect any of you guys wink )
- Two exploits prevented in the shooting level: you can no longer fly across the screen using the pink shooters, and you can no longer bounce off the ceiling in the top row.
- Fixed major exploit in pole vault: you can no longer simply jump without pushing the blocks - you must bring them reasonably close to the walls.

I hope nobody's high score depended on these exploits ...

And Adam, I didn't want to add spikes to the shooting level because it can be annoying having to restart from the beginning every time you screw up in such a long level.

Re: Olympic Decathlon

Don't take this the wrong way, but this sector has the worst music choice ever seen in a sector.

That said, I didn't really see any resemblance to the actual Olympic Games, aside from perhaps the diving level (and even then it's only the act of actually diving).  It was more like a generic decathlon of events.  I honestly don't think it worked very well; stages are extremely easy to get through and there isn't really much opporitunity for time trialing - the stages are just too well set in how you have to go through them.
